History of Le Blaireau

Le Blaireau Bar & Bistro is famous for its warm, hospitable staff, relaxed and authentic French atmosphere and delicious regional French cooking. Le Blaireau regularly plays host to small romantic dinners, large birthday celebrations, simple relaxed luncheons and is very popular among the locals of the New Forest for morning coffee.

The original restaurant was built in 1978 and was named the Jugged Hare pub. Dishes on the Jugged Hare menu included a New Forest ‘Smokie’ with salad at just £1.35 and a Jacket Potato and Baked Beans for 95p. The pub served traditional English cuisine for 11 years until it was completely re-designed 1989 and renamed Le Blaireau.

Today you can experience the finest of French food with dishes such as Moules Mariniere and steak and frites. The restaurant décor is as fresh as the first day it opened 25 years ago. Inspired by the streets of Paris, 'La Rue' is the ‘street’ at the back of the restaurant created for specifically for private dining. You feel as though you are dining al fresco, or should we say “en plein air”, on the streets of Paris.
